MAFS and AAD-SL Hands Over Multi-Purpose Agricultural Processing Center for Women in Bombali District

The Deputy Minister II of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS) along side with NGO Desk Coordinating Team attended the official opening and handover ceremony of a multi-purpose agricultural processing center in Makump Doron Community, Bombali Sebora Chiefdom. The project, supported by the European Union (EU), is part of a consortium led by KADDRO, with Bombali and Kambia District Councils as implementing partners.

This initiative aims to enhance the livelihoods of rural women and youth in Bombali and Kambia districts, contributing to their sustainable economic empowerment. During the event, the Executive Director of “AAD-SL,” one of #MAFS‘s key #NGO#partners, highlighted the significance of the project for the local community. The project aligns with #Pillars of the #FeedSaloneStrategy, providing farmers with seeds, input systems, a modern #processing#facility, and access to #financial#grants, with a special focus on supporting #women and #youth.

The ceremony featured remarks from the Director of NGO Affairs at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED) and the National Coordinator of SLANGO. The Deputy Minister II delivered the keynote address, expressing gratitude to the EU representative for financing the project. He urged the community to utilize the facility effectively to further the government’s #FeedSaloneagenda.

The event concluded with the official handover of the facility’s keys and a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the Deputy Minister II.
